You never know what you can achieve until you start

success tips on starting small- business, entrepreneurship, life in Nigeria, and youths

Many are afraid to start small for fear of the unknown. They would rather keep putting off till tomorrow what should be done today. Ironically, that tomorrow never comes. You never know what great feats you can attain unless you start.

I remember the very first day I decided to monetise my artistic talent. That was in 2005. I charged a paltry N300 for the first portrait I drew for someone in school. It was quite a little beginning, but that did not discourage me. I was rather buoyed by the fact that I at least started something with the talent.

Fast forward that experience to today, the highest I have received for a single portrait is N100,000; not much money though, if you talk about what some artists receive as commissions. Not just that, deciding to give expression to the talent has taken me to five state governors in Nigeria and other top personalities across the country, thus validating what the Scriptures say, "A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men."

I'm not calling these numbers to impress you, but to inspire you to see the great possibilities of what you carry, which you are yet to give expression. Yours may not be arts or creativity, discover what it is and start. Remember, we are in this journey called life together and by the grace of God, we will make our mark.

Stay inspired!
